Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about the data, the scoring, and what AutoMate.lk is not.
- Where does AutoMate.lk get its vehicle data?
- From public Sri Lankan vehicle marketplaces. Prices, locations and descriptions are exactly as the seller posted them, and every recommendation links back to the original listing.
- Is AutoMate.lk a dealer, or affiliated with sellers?
- No. AutoMate.lk doesn't sell, own or broker any vehicle. It's a recommendation tool that points you to listings that fit what you asked for.
- How is the match score calculated?
- Every listing is checked against the same five factors — budget fit, fuel economy, comfort and space, reliability, and resale value — and combined into one score. It's arithmetic you can check, not a black box.
- Why does a price or mileage sometimes show as unknown?
- Because a small number of sellers enter figures that clearly can't be right — a decades-old car with single-digit mileage, or a price far below what any real vehicle sells for. AutoMate.lk treats those specific figures as unknown rather than ranking on bad data, while still showing the seller's original text.
- What languages can I search in?
- English, Sinhala or Tamil — write however you speak, and the advisor understands it.
- How often is the data updated?
- New listings are collected on an ongoing basis; each listing page shows when it was last posted.
